Is Divine Healing for Us?

1 Peter 2:24 ( NIV ) 24He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
Why is it that sometimes we are able to accept our healing by faith in the stripes of Jesus, and other times we just can't seem to 'get it?' We know and believe the scripture yet, we still find ourselves sick with colds, flu, or something more serious and not able to access the healing we know is ours.
Does this mean healing is not for us?
Does it mean God's will may not be to heal everyone?
No!!!
Let God be true and every man a liar. (Romans 3:4)
God's will is to save and deliver everyone from sin, destruction, and death. Salvation and healing are part of the same package and God's will is the same for both.
I don't have all the answers to the questions above, but I know that our minds are renewed by meditating in the word of God. When we spend time filling our thoughts with the promises of God, faith is born and grows in our spirits. This is the stuff of sanctification, the renewing of our mind.
When faith is born and begins to operate, anything is possible.
I am reminded of a time when my children were young. I had been spending time in the word, praying, and confessing healing scriptures over my family. My daughter came home from school with a note that several children in her class were out with chicken pox.
In the days before the vaccine was available, mothers used to expose their children on purpose when they were young because the disease is much milder in children than in adults. It was kinder to make sure they developed immunity early so they would not get the disease later and suffer more.
I knew that you could develop immunity from exposure to the disease, but not actually get ill. This is what I decided to believe God for, that my daughter would become immune to the disease, but not get sick. She never ran a fever, had any pox, and has never had the disease. Praise God!
When her younger brother developed a rash, I realized I had failed to believe the same for him. I immediately repented and prayed over him in the same manner. The rash retreated, he never developed fever or pox, and has never had the disease. Praise God!
This is a wonderful example of walking in the healing Jesus bought for us at Calvary.
Can I explain the colds we all got last year, or the other times my children or myself have gotten sick? No, I cannot.
Does it change the fact that Jesus suffered for our healing?
No, it does not.
Our faith must rest in the promise of God, not in our experience, for experience can be clouded by the way we see it and our feelings are, at best, slippery rocks on which to try to stand.
Join me in a new determination that I will base every expectation on nothing less than the word of God
